I knew it and for once I was actually right!
I have another infection and it just is killing me! There's nothing worse than the burning and stinging feeling I've been putting up with since Saturday morning...but I can't let it get me down and won't-even though I want to stay in bed curled up in that perfect position where it doesn't hurt anymore.
So this morning I went to my scheduled appointment with Gina and she decided to put me on a 4X a day dose of Macrodantin for 10 days instead of the Bactrum. And...then I have to take it once a day indefinitely.
I think this is the first time I could decipher the difference between my IC and an infection (pat myself on the back)
I will say when there isn't an infection lingering in there, I have felt great~like a real human being again and Life Is Good...but when stuff like this happens...well I don't want to do anything, go anywhere, see anyone...I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this.
I like reading your blog. My 17-year-old daughter was diagnosed with IC a year and a half ago (she was 15 at the time), and it's been a roller coaster ever since. The pelvic floor therapy helped some, but she can't take Elmiron or any of the other approved drugs. She's been sticking pretty strictly to the IC diet, which helps, and she uses Benadryl at night and Ralefen for pain. I had to learn to cook from scratch for her since she seems to be allergic to soy/lecithin and corn. We're looking into the TENs unit (I think that's what it's called). Thank you for sharing your story. It always helps to hear what helps other people. The best of luck in licking your infection and finding a job and getting rid of your pain/frequency.
ReplyDeleteThank you Shannon. My TENS unit is so helpful and I have my physical therapist to thank for that-fortunately it was very easy to get the purchase approved through my insurance company with the help of my Nurse Practitioner and PT.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you and your daughter find what will help-it will be a frustrating process, but there is hope. Don't let her give up! I admit there are and have been many a day that I was down and out and didn't want to get out of bed, but once I knew treatment was working for me I could get through my tough times. Keep going to PT and make your Urologist work with you!
Good Luck :)
